What you actually pay, compared
Most matric hoodie quotes look cheaper than they are. Here's the same order, priced honestly.
| 60 hoodies, names on back | Typical printer | Kitroom |
|---|---|---|
| Quoted unit price | R350 | R460 |
| Screen setup fee | + R350 once | R0 |
| VAT at 15% | + R3,202 | R0 |
| Courier, nationwide | + R250–600 | Included |
| Physical sample first | Often not offered | Included over 50 |
| Realistic total | ≈ R28,000 | R27,600 |
Competitor figures are based on publicly advertised South African custom hoodie pricing as at August 2026 (R119–R350 per unit excluding delivery, with setup fees typically applied). Actual quotes vary. Always compare the final invoice, not the headline unit price.
The two things that go wrong every year
1. Everyone orders in March
Schools leave it until first term is underway, then every printer in Gauteng has a queue. Six-week waits are normal in peak season. Order between October and December and you're printing in a quiet month.
2. Nobody sees one before ninety get printed
The navy comes out slightly wrong, or a name is misspelled, and by then it's ninety hoodies. On every order over 50 units we post you one finished hoodie first. You hold it, check it, approve it. Then we run the rest.

Send the crest
A photo of a blazer badge is fine. We redraw it properly, free, and send a mockup within a day.
Approve and deposit
50% to start. We post a physical sample. You approve that too before the batch runs.
Delivered
10 working days from artwork approval, couriered to the school. Balance settles before dispatch.
300gsm hoodie · school crest printed front · individual name and class year on the back · nationwide delivery · no setup fee · no VAT

Build your exact priceThis is an indicative estimate, and we say so plainly. The final price depends on your crest — how many colours and how big. We confirm it in writing within one working day and it doesn't move after that. We don't ask for a cent before you've approved a mockup.
Questions the committee will ask
How early should we order?
October to December is ideal for the following year's matrics. You print in a quiet month, you get proper time for a sample, and nobody is panicking. By March every printer in the province has a backlog.
What if a name is spelled wrong?
We print names exactly as you send them, so send the list to the group and let each learner check their own name before you approve. Once you approve the mockup in writing, that's what prints. If we print something different to what you approved, that's our mistake and we redo it free.
Do we pay everything upfront?
No. 50% to start production, balance before dispatch. We're not asking a parent volunteer to hand over R27,000 to a website they found last night.
Can you match our exact school colours?
Usually. Send a Pantone or hex code if the school has one, or just photograph a blazer. We'll tell you honestly if a shade is going to be difficult rather than printing it and hoping nobody notices.
What about learners who join late or change size?
Add 3–5% spares, weighted to M and L, when you order. It's far cheaper than a five-unit reprint later. We'll suggest a number when we quote.
Do we need permission to use the school crest?
Yes, and it's usually straightforward — the school owns it and normally approves matric wear. Get it in writing from the school before you order. We'll decline any job where we don't believe permission exists.
Who actually prints these?
Established South African printers. We choose the right one for your job and we never single-source, so one printer's backlog doesn't become your missed deadline.
